DRILL SERGEANTS

Just like active Army drill sergeants, Army Reserve drill sergeants lead incoming Soldiers in Basic Combat Training, One Station Unit Training and Reserve Officer Training Corps. They serve as advisors, instructors, and evaluators in 44 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.
Drill Sergeants hold one of the most important tasks in the Army: training the Soldiers who will serve as defenders of the country and future leaders. As both a Drill Sergeant and a member of the Army Reserve, you will serve on the trail one weekend a month and as little as 17 days a year.

REQUIREMENTS
- Pass the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT)
- Meet Army height and weight standards
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum GT score of 100 ( or 90 with a waiver)
- Display professional military bearing and good conduct
- Good communication skills
- Minimum four-years of military service
- Pass background screen
Drill Sergeant Training
Drill Sergeant candidates attend the Army Drill Sergeant School at Fort Jackson, S.C. This course can be completed in one continuous phase of 65 days. To work around your civilian or college requirements, you can attend the school in three separate 22-day phases.
