91B: Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic
U.S. Army Sgt. John Smethers, Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic, explains what it’s like being deployed in the U.S. Army 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade (1st SFAB).
My mission downrange consists of two different things, my basic warfighting functions, which is taking care of the vehicles that my team has and also advising the kandaks [battalions] we are assigned to.
So, as far as 91 Bravos joining the SFAB, I highly encourage it. It helps you learn more about yourself and it’s also a great way to expand your horizon as a 91 Bravo. You’re not just in the motor pool every day working on trucks. You’re going out and helping the Afghan nationals, or whatever country you’re in at that point in time, to better themselves.
